Calc Screen
The Calc screen is the first screen that opens when you access EnteralCalc. The Calc screen allows the assignment of formula information to a selected patient.

You may access the Calc screen by using the Calc push button from the formula and patient list screens and from the patient profile screen.

 

You may use the patient drop list to select from the list of patients that you have entered in the patient database. The Calc screen may also be used to do quick calculations on selected formulas without having to assign a patient. 

You ;may use the more button to access the patient detail to review patient history etc. if you have selected one.

When you select a patient from the drop list the screen will fill with the values from the current formula assignment. If the patient does not yet have any formula assignment the screen will display the patient name, calorie requirements and protein requirements.

To select a formula for calculations use the formula drop list.

You may assign the number of hours to administer the formula for the patient. Changing the hours of administration will change the calculated total for rate.

 To calculate the rate, volume, calories, protein and casec for the currently selected formula you may use the calculate push buttons.

  • Rate - Pressing rate will prompt the user to enter the total rate in cc/hour. You may also enter the casec in tbs/liter. Pressing calc will use the entered rate values to provide the total volume and number of cans, total calories, total protein and total tablespoons of casec delivered to the patient for the selected formula.
     
  • Volume - Pressing volume will prompt the user to enter to total volume administer to the patient for the number of hours selected. You may also enter the casec in tbs/liter. Pressing calc will use the entered total volume value to provide the number of cans, rate , total calories, total protein and total tablespoons of casec delivered to the patient for the selected formula.
     
  • Calorie - Pressing calorie will prompt the user to enter the total calories to administer the patient. By default the calories displayed are from the patient requirements. You may also enter total protein you wish to deliver. Pressing calc will use the entered total calories value to provide the volume and number of cans, rate , total calories and total protein delivered to the patient for the selected formula.
     
  • Protein - Pressing protein will prompt the user to enter the total protein grams to administer the patient. By default the protein grams displayed are from the patient requirements. Pressing calc will use the entered total grams of protein value to provide the volume and number of cans, rate , total calories and total protein delivered to the patient for the selected formula.

 

Update
From the Calc screen you have the option to save assigned formula information for the selected patient.  To save the calculated formula assignment to the patient press the Update button.  You may store a current weight for the patient and you may add a note to save with this assignment which will appear in patient history and on any printed output.

 

Menu Options
Several options are available from the menu on the Calc screen.  You may print the currently selected patient's history information, beam the currently selected patient information to another EnteralCalc user, add personal information to append to printed material, share this program with a friend and check out our about screen.

 

Printing
To print you must have a Hewlett-Packard based IR printer or compatible IR printer.  To print the patient information and patient history select a patient from the drop list and use the menu to select print.  Point your PDA at the IR port on your infrared printer and printing will begin automatically.  When printing is complete you will receive a printing competed message. 

Beam Patient Data
You may need to share data with other EnteralCalc users.  You may beam your data for a selected patient by selecting the patient to beam information for on the Calc screen and then use the menu option to beam patient data. 

User Information
To append information to the bottom of printed materials you may enter personal information here.

Sharing EnteralCalc
You may want to share a copy of EnteralCalc with others.  You can use the Share This Program feature to beam all of your formulas, patients and their history and the EnteralCalc program to a buddy.  Simply follow directions after selecting this option.
